Artist Amelia Critchlow

PAPER NAUTILUS

AMELIA CRITCHLOW

My work seeks to explore identity, myth and
symbolism, with a focus on folktales and
stories, paying particular attention to the
way in which these narratives have been
imaged and the effect this has on the
construct of the ‘feminine’.

By appropriating and referencing mainstream
popular imagery and already established signs
and signifiers, the aim of my work is to
examine, subvert and re-image cultural icons
 encouraging new narratives and alternative
readings to emerge
.
